Here is a quick video from the Super Bowl. I was tickling Amie's feet, not unusual, and she just busted out with the cutest laugh ever! It was her first really real laughing. I didn't know anyone had a recorder, so too bad we didn't catch it sooner. Here's the short tail-end of that adorable noise! She's done it only 2 or 3 times since.
It wasn't saved to my computer, so here's just a link to it on facebook until I can get my hands on it.

Whoa
Check it out- Amelie has grown so fast, and SO MANY people have remarked on it, I thought I'd give you the evidence and let you decide for yourself. Here's a picture from 2 weeks old, and one from 3 1/2 mos., both in the same position so you can better judge.
OK, WHOA! I take it back about being your own judge, I HAVE to comment, and just say how happy I am that she came out the size she did. She has more than doubled in weight and is doing so well! But, coulda been... ouch.

Bear Lake
So, in case you haven't noticed yet, one of the things Jeff and I love the most is traveling. For us, it almost doesn't matter where, either. We have a blast together, listening to books on the drive, finding awesome little food joints, exploring wherever we are, and relaxing together. So, this week, Jeff had a 7-day period where he only had to work one day! (Because of the way his training rotation worked out.) We thought this was a great opportunity, and so we decided to go to Bear Lake for a few days. It was snowing on the drive up, but it was definitely worth it. We had the most gorgeous view of the snowy mountains and the lake, and you could see the beautiful sunrise right out our window. We cooked some meals in our condo, but went out to an amazing breakfast at a sweet little dive. )Jeff had pancakes bigger than his head!) We played some games and watched some movies by the fireplace, but we also went out to the lake and even went swimming! OK, not there. Our condo has a sweet indoor swimming pool and spa. We took Amie swimming for the first time, and she appeared to enjoy it. Until she got a huge mouthful of unwanted water, that is. Here's some highlights.

Random Catch Up
It seems I am always only playing catch up with my blog these days. It's amazing how one baby can rule your life. How do 2 and 3 work? (I figure by 4, you should have kid helpers.)
Anyway, here are a few random photos. First, lately Amie curls like she's doing a sit up when you hold her, so we figure she wants to sit up. We've been propping her in safe places and it usually keeps her happy for awhile!

Here's a photo of the sweet U cheerleader that is my daughter. This is from the bowl game. (A little too loud for her taste.) Go Utes! 13-0!

And, I just thought this was just a funny pic. Amelie was being pretty demanding this morning, but I had to put her down real quick so I could finish getting ready for church. The nearest spot was a pile of clothes, and when I turned around, there she was, totally content to eat her hand and click her little feet together. Adorable!

Christmas?
It occurred to me that I completely skipped over Christmas in my mass bloggings, so here are a few notes from that fabulous week. My uncle Don was in town with his family (who we see the least) and we all went to Temple Square for the lights the day before Christmas (SO crowded!) Early on Christmas Eve we had a big Martindale family get together in Ogden with games and SOO much food. It was pretty darn crammed, but really fun. We got some good bingo prizes/gifts. Then, we drove from Ogden out to Grantsville for Jeff's big family party. We had more excellent food there, and got some more great gifts. The little kids all acted out the nativity, and of course, Amie got to play the Baby Jesus. She was super hungry during that time though, and the Mary was a bit young to handle her, so our Nativity only had a Jesus for a short while. After festivities there were over, we drove out to Eagle Mountain, and by this time, the weather was REALLY bad. We were driving in the West Mountains in the middle of that snow storm and it took us so long, and was kinda scary. Lucky for Jeff the driver, Amelie was asleep most of the way. We finally arrived in one piece fairly late (all the kids in my family still sleep over at my parent's on Christmas Eve.) We then didn't get much sleep at all with the baby before the 7 am presents appointment. Of course, this is when Amelie finally decided to do her sleeping, so she missed all the gift opening. But she sure looked cute in her Christmas jammies. After a leisurely day at my mom's and an over-luscious Christmas Dinner, we went for presents with Jeff's immediate family in Taylorsville. Then finally home about 8pm on Christmas day. I think we used an entire tank of gas just in those 2 days of travel! Overall, it was SUCH a blast, just a bummer to be driving so much in such a snow stormy few days.

Sleeping through her presents on Christmas Day!

My cutie niece, Stacey, left a note for Santa with the cookies.

The giant spread Christmas morning, and that's not even all of it!

Closeup of the feeding Baby Jesus.

The whole super-cute nativity.

Amelie's first viewing of the temple square lights... or my jacket.

What she did the whole time.

Photos
We got some pictures done of Amelie at 3 weeks, and I didn't love them. We used a $5 coupon, so we obviously didn't have many good choices. We also had a free family shot, so we decided to have a look through the poses of Amelie they did there and couldn't resist getting one of those, too. Here they are - 3 wks, 7 wks, and the whole, happy North family.

2008-2009
Jeff and I were sitting in the year's first fast and testimony meeting for our ward and heard many stories that day of trials and difficult situations throughout the year. We both looked at each other and said "sounds like we're the only ones that had an awesome year." And it's true! 2008 was exceptionally wonderful to us, and here are just a few of the reasons why:
We bought a home (just in time!), we bought a car, Jeff got an amazing job with SLCPD, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Recreation Therapy, I got to quit working, we took trips to Florida and Denver, we celebrated our first anniversary and, most amazing, our beautiful Amelie joined our family.
Of course we've had a difficult day here and there, but we truly feel we couldn't be more blessed, especially in times like these. We're grateful for an awesome year, and here's to another great one!
As for the festivities, we hung out at my parent's house with my uncle and his family while they were in town. We went to Chuck-a-rama, then played games, ate SO much food, made a mess and had a good time. Here's the only picture we really have from the night.

Blessing
We blessed Amelie on December 7th-we had so many people come to support! Our sacrament meeting was packed, then everyone went to our house afterward for food. I can not exaggerate how full my house was! You literally couldn't move, there were so many people. We're blessed to be so loved and supported. Plus, we didn't run out of food-that was important. :) Jeff gave a beautiful blessing and Amelie was good during it all.

All Amie
This post is just a little update about Amelie Josephine and some pictures. (I should have posted this first-now no one will read down to the next post!) She's just under 8 weeks now, and 8 1/2 pounds. Finally, the size of a normal newborn. :) She just barely outgrew her first two premie outfits, haha. I even put a size 1 diaper on her today! It's a little big, but they do the job and I'm out of newborn size. We've taken to calling her Amie in play, and I love it, because that means "friend" in French-it's even the feminine version! I didn't even see that coming when we picked it!
Our Amie Jo has been busy! She can already hold her head up, turn over from front to back and has had a large barrage of big, real smiles! It is the most adorable thing you've ever seen, of course. She is so strong, everyone comments on it. Still little, but steadily gaining weight. She's trying valiantly to chub up, and it's working fairly well, but she keeps growing longer, too, and can't keep up!
To my delight, Amelie is sleeping at nights, now, too. She doesn't sleep all the way through the night, but hey-I have NO problem with a 3am feeding, if that's when I'm waking up and then we go back to bed!
Here are some of the cutest photos of Amelie.

LOVES that binkie!

At Daddy's graduation, being a good, quiet girl.

Love those tights!

Only gets her sleeping half of the time, darn it.

She hates this chair.

With hat and tennies, ready to go!

Even on the floor, she'll just curl right up.

I know Jeff hates this picture, but I think it's so adorable, the way she's snuggling up to him! She loves Daddy.

This is her favorite place to be.

Graduation and Thanksgiving!
It's been a full month since my last post, now, and you can thank my adorable daughter. I'll probably need a few posts to really catch up. Here's the first.
Jeff is now officially an officer with Salt Lake City PD. His graduation ceremony was Nov. 26th, and he is now in Field Training. (He'll be rotating through different shifts and departments for the next few months.) The Mayor spoke at the ceremony, along with Chief Burbank (whom I love!) and then I got to pin Jeff's badge on him. It was on the news a few times and in the paper-there's a great big close up picture of Jeff standing at attention during the ceremony. Afterward, we went out to lunch at Jeff's choice, Olive Garden, to celebrate. It was a good time.

The next day-Thanksgiving! We got up way too early to go down to my parents house in Eagle Mountain (so we could watch the parade that started at 9.) At my house, we always start the feasting early-this year with chocolate and peanut butter chip pancakes, bacon and eggs. YUM! It was a good thing, too, cause dinner took longer than expected. After the parade, us "kids" headed to a nearby park to have our own Turkey Bowl-ultimate frisbee style. It was super-awesome, except that there was a HEINOUS wind that day, so we only lasted til a score of 4-3 or something like that (We played girls against boys and I may or may not have gotten kinda competitive. I just cant help it!) We headed back to the house and I helped cook-something I love to do every day of the week. We put on a gorgeous spread, and the meal was aMAZing as always! That's how it goes when you come from a family of good cooks. Later in the day, my aunt Teri and her crew came down for leftovers and games, which is always a good time. We played Body Boggle-a sweet game that is kinda like Twister with words. I dominated, I can't lie.

Taking a breather after the game.

The beautiful location where we played.

The big spread!

Body Boggle-everyone should own this game. Even my mom got down on the floor with me!
Finally, of course, we watched the Holy War on that Saturday. At my house, I was outnumbered by BYU fans (my family all came over after we went to see Twilight,) but in the end it didn't matter! The Utes not only prevailed, but kicked their trash! And a note-Amie was wearing a nice red U! (I just failed to get a picture of it before she spit all over it.) GO UTES!
